Our Final Take on Pride and Prejudice, We Promise
Forget the official product description, here’s what this is: a ready-to-play story bible for Principia Canonica. It’s the test run, the proof-of-concept, the format that future Canonica releases are going to take. Rather than try to recreate the novel beat-for-beat, it gives you all of the characters, the key locations, and the pressures of the setting, and lets you run your own version. Want to be Elizabeth Bennet? Go for it! Want to be Darcy? Cool, you can! Want to be Mr. Collins? Why!? Want to create an original character because you know absolutely nothing about Jane Austen? You can do that, too.
We went with Pride and Prejudice because it’s familiar, and we thought it would be a good testing ground for the format. Future releases will be original settings, plus the return of some old favorites, and yes, more literary adaptations. All ready to play, all for Canonica, all able to be mixed and matched to create your own settings across numerous genres, for everything from one-shots to extended campaigns.
This is what we’ve always wanted to do, before we got sidetracked chasing what a particular platform rewards. One core book, the Canonica. Pick-up-and-play adventures that have pregenerated characters, essential locations, story fuel, and more for around the price of a cup of coffee. Story-driven, character-focused, and not another violence-driven, wargame-derived cookie-cutter experience.
The book is currently available for download from the Lightspress Shop, Itch, and Patreon. It will be available in print next week from a wide variety of retailers; we’ll let you know when those are live. Tell your friends. Tell everyone. Help spread the word. And please, tell us what you think.
