This Isn’t a Logo. It’s a Line in the Sand.

There’s a new Lightspress logo. Seven black stars, drawn into the shape of the Big Dipper. The name sits beneath them on parchment. That’s the whole mark.

It’s not branding. It’s a banner.

This emblem ties together everything that brought me here. It carries the weight of UncleBear, the experiments of Dancing Lights, the wide skies of the southwest, and the green fire of Finnish nights. It crosses time and place. It shows where the work began and where it continues. The lines are rough. The shape is steady. That’s the point.

The stars are black. The field is parchment. The design is made to hold, not shine. It matches the books. It matches the fight.

A Mark for What’s Coming

This is a war emblem. Not for a faction. Not for a nation. For me.

I’ve lived through enough economic downturns to recognize what this is. The collapse is already here. The people in charge don’t intend to stop it. They’ve chosen extraction. They’ve chosen control. What’s left to small creators is ash and noise.

This logo stands against that. Quietly. Without begging for attention. It’s what I plant in the ground to say the work will continue anyway.

Lightspress is adapting. Older titles are closing. The catalog is smaller. The structure is clear. Every book has a reason. Every price is considered. The site has been rebuilt. The newsletter holds the center. The imprint moves forward because it has to. This mark reflects that.

It appears where the work lives. On books, landing pages, backmatter. It doesn’t sell anything. It keeps position.

The Line Holds

The Big Dipper points toward Polaris. That’s what it’s always done. You can navigate by it. You can survive by it. That’s what I needed the logo to mean. Not presence. Not reach. Direction.

This isn’t a pivot. This isn’t a campaign. This is what it looks like to hold ground when the roof is coming down. The stars are already overhead. The stories are still worth telling. The imprint doesn’t need a spotlight. It needs a symbol.

This is the mark. This is where it stands.
