Lightspress Manifesto: 25 June 2024

We know, it’s a lot. A seemingly endless stream of new releases coming out faster than most of us can keep track of them. Things will slow down in July, and by August we’ll be back to a more familiar release schedule.

There are two reasons for this mad dash. First, this is the slow season for small publishers. Everyone is spending any disposable income they may have on new releases from the big publishers, attending conventions, or just going on a normal vacation. Regular game sessions are interrupted by the erratic availability of group members, so thoughts and wallets turn to other hobbies.

Second, we’re laying a foundation for the next phase. The games we’ll be publishing. The genres we’ll be exploring. The approach we’ll be taking to roleplaying, what it means. and what we think it has the potential to be. There is a method to our madness. It will all make sense in the end.

I hope you’re doing well today.
