What genres does Lightspress specialize in, and what types of roleplaying experiences does it produce?

Lightspress focuses on several underserved genres in roleplaying, including crime, mystery, dark academia, cozy fantasy, and political thrillers. Our titles aim to transition away from wargaming roots toward more story-driven, character-focused experiences. Additionally, we prioritize settings set in the present day, familiar past (such as the Victorian era or 20th century), and near future to align with other popular media like television, film, and novels.

How can I submit my manuscript or roleplaying game idea for consideration?

We currently do not accept submissions. Unsolicited submissions will be deleted unread due to legal liability concerns.

What formats are Lightspress books available in?

All our books are available in PDF format, with most also offered in epub and MOBI (Kindle) formats. We are in the process of making select titles available in print.

What sets Lightspress apart from other small presses and producers of roleplaying experiences?

We prioritize simplicity and creativity. Our books are referred to as toolkits because roleplaying is a collaborative creative experience that unfolds around your table.

Are there community forums or resources available for readers and players?

We do not currently host or endorse any official forums, chat rooms, or groups. While there are unofficial spaces, we do not actively participate in or endorse them.

Does Lightspress organize or sponsor events and conventions?

We currently do not participate in any events or sponsor conventions.

Does Lightspress have a policy regarding inclusion and diversity in its products?

Are there any age restrictions for playing your games?

While there is no standard rating system for roleplaying material, based on ratings from other media, most of our material would fall under PG-13, TV-14, and T for Teen. While our content does not typically contain graphic violence, sexual situations, or harsh language (with the exception of Dice & Discontent), players and guides can interpret the material as they see fit, and we cannot be held responsible for what occurs during play.
