The Space Between Stories
I'm glad you're here.
There’s a moment I keep coming back to from one of the first roleplaying games I ever ran. The players finished what I thought would be the last scene for the night, but they didn’t leave the table. They stayed. One of them leaned back in their chair and started talking about the choice their character almost made. Another traced a finger across the map, wondering what would have happened if they had gone east instead of west. For a while, nothing moved, but it felt like everything in the story was still alive.
Lightspress books are built for that space. They are made to leave room between the big events, the battles, the obvious quests. They are meant to hold a story even when no one knows exactly where it’s going next. The frameworks are there to listen, not to steer. Every choice a player makes has the power to carry the world forward, even if it happens quietly.
The space between stories isn’t empty. It’s full of memory, tension, imagination. It’s where characters grow without anyone forcing them. It’s where settings take on weight because someone decided to stay a little longer, to wonder a little more. At Lightspress, every book trusts that players will find meaning in the spaces we leave open. Every story is waiting for the next step, and the next, even when no one knows what it will be yet.
You can find all the Lightspress collections here if you're ready to shape your own.
I hope you're doing well today,
Berin
