Story at the Table: Start Here

Reading lets you witness a story; narrative roleplaying lets you take part in one.

Narrative roleplaying is literature as a participatory activity. It’s collaborative storytelling through character perspective, dramatic tension, and human conflict. You inhabit a fictional character and place them inside uncertain situations shaped by pressure, relationships, difficult choices, and consequences. No single person controls the narrative; stories emerge collectively through decisions, interpretations, and the unpredictable effects characters have on one another.

Story at the Table is narrative roleplaying inspired by literature, film, history, and dramatic fiction. Instead of observing a character under pressure, you inhabit the character directly and make decisions from inside the situation itself. The same imaginative and emotional skills involved in reading become active rather than passive.
